Homework - Film Poster Analysis
This film poster is a use of the Wide Shot Type: This is to show his surroundings which appear to be a large alleyway, in which he is stood at the middle of a wide, railed stairway. This could connote he is the main character as he is in the middle of the frame, but the fact that he is in an alleyway could suggest he is a villain or antagonist. However, the lighting is quite bright with the passages lamps and the daylight shining on the person, which usually implies something or someone good, so it creates a mystery as to what this character's intentions are. The man's clothes are like a suit, but very colourful: his red trousers and jacket, yellow shirt and green bow tie could create a sense of confusion to other characters in the film, especially side characters: Why would he wear such unfashionable clothes? However, his seaweed green, slicked back hair and makeup explain the look at first glance: His face is painted white, with a red nose and red, creepy smile hand drawn onto his mouth. He is dressed as a clown. This can have connotations of happiness and fun, but also very scary and eerie, which can lead onto the movie genre possibly being horror, being a creepy clown. The pose he is standing in makes him seem proud and fearless, which could connote he is powerful, and high on the scale of hierarchy, certainly not a weak character.
Fantastic Georgia! Great analysis with a strong grasp of Media Language and terminology.

Beautiful, eloquent, brilliant: is what I would say if this was the opposite of what you wrote.
